Born to a poor immigrant family in New York City, Richard Carmona experienced homelessness, hunger, and health disparities during his youth. The experiences greatly sensitized him to the relationships among culture, health, education and economic status and ultimately shaped his future.

After dropping out of high school, Dr. Carmona enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967 where he received a GED. By the time he left active duty, he was a Special Forces, combat-decorated Vietnam veteran. He then pursued a college degree and entered medical school at the University of California – San Francisco where he won the prestigious Gold Cane award as the top graduate.

Dr. Carmona became a surgeon with a sub-specialty in trauma, burns and critical care and was recruited to Tucson to establish the first trauma system in southern Arizona which he did successfully. Later, while working full time as a hospital and health system CEO, he earned a master’s degree in public health policy and administration at the University of Arizona.

Dr. Carmona has served for over 34 years with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Tucson, including as deputy sheriff, detective, SWAT team leader and department surgeon. He is one of the most highly decorated police officers in Arizona, and his numerous awards include the National Top Cop Award, the National SWAT Officer of the Year, and the National Tactical EMS Award. Dr. Carmona is a nationally recognized SWAT expert and has published extensively on SWAT training and tactics, forensics, and tactical emergency medical support. Dr. Carmona has also served as a medical director of police and fire departments and is a fully qualified peace officer with expertise in special operations and emergency preparedness, including weapons of mass destruction.

In 2006 Vice Admiral Carmona successfully completed the statutory four-year term as Surgeon General and was named vice chairman of Canyon Ranch, CEO of the health division and president of the Canyon Ranch Institute. Dr. Carmona continues his Canyon Ranch leadership role as the Chief of Health Innovations. He also serves on several public corporate boards and works with private equity and venture capital firms to identify emerging science and technology to translate to market for economic and public benefit.

Michelle A. Williams, SM ’88, ScD ’91, is Dean of the Faculty, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and Angelopoulos Professor in Public Health and International Development, a joint faculty appointment at the Harvard Chan School and Harvard Kennedy School. She is an internationally renowned epidemiologist and public health scientist, an award-winning educator, and a widely recognized academic leader. Prior to becoming Dean, she was Professor and Chair of the Department of Epidemiology at the Harvard Chan School and Program Leader of the Population Health and Health Disparities Research Programs at Harvard’s Clinical and Translational Sciences Center. Dean Williams previously had a distinguished career at the University of Washington School of Public Health. Her scientific work places special emphasis in the areas of reproductive, perinatal, pediatric, and molecular epidemiology. Dean Williams has published more than 500 scientific articles and was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2016. In 2020, she was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and recognized by PR Week as one of the top 50 health influencers of the year. The Dean has an undergraduate degree in biology and genetics from Princeton University, a master’s in civil engineering from Tufts University, and master’s and doctoral degrees in epidemiology from the Harvard Chan School.

Gloria Caulfield leads health and wellness strategy and planning for the Lake Nona Institute. Gloria is passionate about identifying partners who are skillful at collaboration and have the desire to innovate solutions that have the potential to move the needle on community health and wellness.

David Cameron served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from 2010 to 2016, leading Britain’s first Coalition Government in nearly 70 years and, at the 2015 General Election, forming the first majority Conservative Government in the UK for over two decades.

David Cameron came to power in 2010 at a moment of economic crisis and with an unprecedented fiscal challenge. Under his leadership, the UK’s economy was transformed. The deficit was reduced by over two-thirds; one million businesses set-up; a record number of jobs were created: 1,000 extra jobs for every day he was Prime Minister; and Britain became the fastest-growing major advanced economy in the world.

Internationally, David Cameron developed a foreign policy in the post-Iraq era that addressed the new challenges of the Arab Spring, as well as a more aggressive Russia, while ensuring that Britain played a full role in the global fight against ISIS. Under his leadership, Britain built a strong partnership with India and became China’s preferred partner in the West. Throughout, David championed Britain’s special relationship with the US, working closely with President Barack Obama.

Following hosting the successful London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, David chaired the 2013 G8 Summit at Lough Erne in Northern Ireland, where he highlighted the global need for fair taxes, increased transparency and open trade.

He led the way internationally by passing the UK’s Same Sex Marriage Act, enabling those who love each other to get married whatever their sexuality; settled the UK’s voting practices for a generation through the first of three national referenda held while he was in No10; and offered two more decisive national votes: the first on Scotland’s place within the United Kingdom; the second on the United Kingdom’s place within the European Union.

David fought both campaigns the only way he knew how, which was to say directly and passionately what he thought and believed was right – head, heart and soul. In winning the 2014 Scottish referendum he ensured Scotland remained part of the United Kingdom. However, despite arguing that Britain was stronger, safer and better off inside the European Union, in June 2016, the British people voted to leave the EU. Following this defeat, David resigned as Prime Minister and Leader of the Conservative Party, leaving 10 Downing Street on 13 July 2016.

During his leadership of the party, he promoted social justice and social action; advanced the green agenda; set protecting the NHS as a top priority; and was proud to see a significant increase in the number of women and ethnic minority candidates standing for the Conservative Party and elected to Parliament.

Since leaving 10 Downing Street, David has continued focusing on issues he advanced while in office: supporting life chances for young people and building a bigger, stronger society; championing Britain’s cutting edge medical research; and promoting international development.

David is Chairman of Patrons at National Citizen Service (NCS), the UK’s flagship youth development programme that brings together teenagers from all parts of the country for a part-residential experience.

He is also President of Alzheimer’s Research UK, Britain’s leading medical research charity with special focus on funding bio-medical research into the cause, prevention and cure of dementia.

And continuing the instrumental role he took while Prime Minister advocating UN Sustainable Development Goal 16, he has been working with the London School of Economics and Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University by chairing the LSE-Oxford Commission on State Fragility, Growth and Development, under the auspices of the International Growth Centre. He also sits on the Global Board of Advisors at the Council on Foreign Relations and is a Board member of the ONE Campaign.

Further to these roles, David is advising and working with a number of international businesses, concentrating on technology, finance and medical innovation sectors.

Jennifer is Senior Vice President, 5G Acceleration, Verizon Business. She is an experienced sales leader and general manager with an aptitude for creating diverse teams and fostering global perspectives.

She is responsible for catalyzing the adoption and commercialization of 5G across industries and enabling rapidly scalable deployment of 5G solutions to enterprises in the U.S. and around the world.

With keen knowledge of customers’ operations and unique needs, Jennifer and the 5G Acceleration Team use Verizon’s strength in building reliable networks and intelligent connectivity solutions to help businesses realize new capabilities, solve operational problems, and get to revenue faster.

Prior to joining Verizon Jennifer served as the President, BT in the Americas and MD, Technology, Life Sciences and Business Services where she led BT’s entire Americas team in the United States, Canada and Latin America and ran a global sales vertical focused on Technology, Life Sciences and Business Services customers. As the leader of one of three global vertical sales units, Artley built and grew relationships with BT’s top 800 customers in this ~£1.2B sales channel. She brought together the knowledge, resources, and skills of her global team to address customers’ complex digital transformations with insight, consistency, and agility.

Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Arts at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, her Master of Business Administration from University of Pennsylvania - Wharton School of Business, and her Master of Arts from The Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. She is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Russian. Jennifer was also a founding member and later an Advisory Board member of Minds Matter of Denver, a non-profit focused on mentoring and supporting unique educational opportunities for high achieving high school students from low income neighborhoods. Jennifer currently resides in Denver, Colorado with her husband and two daughters.

Director of multiple corporate and nonprofit boards, visiting professor at NYU and Columbia University, musician, advisor on public policy issues, and mentor to senior executives and next generation of leaders. Recipient of multiple honors for a life dedicated to statesmanship and community service.

Iconic Grammy and Emmy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated artist, actress, producer, and entrepreneur Mary J. Blige is a figure of inspiration, transformation, and empowerment. With a track record of eight multi-platinum albums, nine Grammy Awards (37 nominations), an Emmy award, two Academy Award nominations, two Golden Globe nominations, and a SAG nomination, Blige has cemented herself as a global superstar.

Influenced at an early age by the music of Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan and Gladys Knight, Blige brought her own gritty, urban-rooted style—fusing hip-hop, soul, and honest, frank lyrics—to the forefront on her 1992 debut album What’s the 411? Blige continued to redefine R&B and began forging a unique niche for herself on her second album, 1994’s My Life.

Each subsequent album she released reads like a chapter from an autobiography leading to February 2022, when Blige released her 15th studio album Good Morning Gorgeous, which has since earned her six 2023 Grammy nominations including Album and Record of the Year. The album release led into a historic performance at the Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA alongside Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Kendrick Lamar. Her performance earned her a 2022 Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Special (Live).

Following the success of this performance, Blige and Pepsi announced the inaugural “Strength of a Woman Festival and Summit” in partnership with Live Nation Urban. The festival quickly sold out and will be back for its second year this May in Atlanta, GA.

On the acting side, Blige starred as Florence Jackson in the 2017 Netflix breakout film Mudbound, to which she received critical acclaim including two Academy Award nominations for Best Support Actress and Best Original Song. Among many other credits, Blige is currently starring in STARZ’s POWER BOOK II: GHOST, which will premiere its third season in March 2023.

On the producing side, Blige launched her production company, Blue Butterfly, and signed a first-look TV deal with Lionsgate. Blige also signed a first-look non-scripted deal and a second-look scripted deal with BET. In 2021, Blige worked with Oscar-winning filmmaker Vanessa Roth and Amazon on her documentary Mary J. Blige's My Life celebrating the 25th anniversary of her famed album My Life, of which she was the focus and EP.

David Blumenthal is President Emeritus of the Commonwealth Fund and was previously Chief Health Information and Innovation Officer at Partners Health System, and Samuel O. Thier Professor of Medicine and Professor of Health Care Policy at Massachusetts General Hospital/ Harvard Medical School. He was National Coordinator for Health Information Technology under President Barack Obama from 2009-2011.

Barbara Bouza is president of Walt Disney Imagineering, where she heads the global creative, design and development teams behind Disney’s theme parks, attractions, resort hotels, cruise ships, and retail, dining and entertainment centers. She also leads a multidisciplinary team tasked with exploring, developing and bringing to market groundbreaking ideas that enhance and expand Disney’s portfolio of experiences around the world.

Barbara previously served as co-managing director, principal, of Gensler Los Angeles. A fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), she was the 2019 AIA Los Angeles president, and also served on the board of the Southern California chapter of the International Interior Design Association.

Barbara is on the board of directors of Imagine LA, a leading not-for-profit dedicated to mobilizing the community to end the cycle of family homelessness and poverty, and is a member of the National Organization of Minority Architects and the Women Presidents’ Organization. Additionally, she works with nonprofit organizations such as Girls Inc. and Dress for Success.

Barbara holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and studied in the Graduate Diploma Program at the Architectural Association in London.

John Hope Bryant is an American entrepreneur, author, philanthropist, and prominent thought leader on financial inclusion, economic empowerment and financial dignity. He has served as an advisor to the last three sitting U.S. presidents, from both political parties. He is responsible for financial literacy becoming the policy of the U.S. federal government. Additionally, Bryant is a permanent part of the Smithsonian AFRICAN-American Museum. He is named one of Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “Most Admired CEOs” in 2018, American Banker magazine “Innovator of the Year” in 2016, Inc. Magazine “The World’s 10 Top CEOs”, and in 1994 Time magazine’s “50 Leaders for the Future”.

Lauren Bush Lauren is the Founder and Chief Brand Officer of FEED, a social business and impact-driven brand whose mission is to “create good products that help FEED the world”. Each FEED product sold helps feed children in school around the globe as well as here in U.S. She founded FEED in 2007 and to date, the company has helped provide over 126 million school meals to children around the world as well as here in the U.S. through non-profit giving partners. For her work with FEED, Lauren has received multiple awards including Fortune Magazine’s Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs in 2009 and one of Inc. Magazine’s 30 Under 30 in 2010. And in 2015, she was named a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader.

Lauren resides in New York City where she also serves on the Board of Directors for the Food Bank for NYC. Outside of work, Lauren’s most important role is as Mama to three boys – James, Max, and Rocky

Robin is the Ralph Metzner Distinguished Professor in Neurology and Psychiatry and Director Neuroscape’s Psychedelics Division at the University of California, San Francisco. He moved to Imperial College London in 2008 after obtaining a PhD in Psychopharmacology. Robin has designed human brain imaging studies with LSD, psilocybin, MDMA and DMT, and clinical trials of psilocybin therapy for severe mental illnesses.

Juju Chang is an Emmy® Award-winning co-anchor of ABC News’ “Nightline.” She also reports regularly for “Good Morning America” and “20/20.” Chang reported on the recent rise of hate crimes toward the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community as anchor of the ABC News Live special “Stop The Hate: The Rise In Violence Against Asian Americans” and the “20/20” special “Murder In Atlanta” following the Atlanta mass shooting.

Chang has been recognized for her in-depth personal narratives set against the backdrop of pressing national and international news. Her recent reports include a critical examination of the controversial Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) known as the “Remain in Mexico” immigration policy. The story was told through the eyes of one pregnant woman and her family among the 60,000 asylum seekers camped for months along the Rio Grande. Chang’s award-winning report on violence against transgender women of color across the country caps a series of her stories on LGBTQ+ issues. Chang won a GLAAD award for her story on the 25th anniversary of Matthew Shepard’s murder and the legacy his parents have built in his honor. A former news anchor for “Good Morning America,” Chang joined ABC News just after college as an entry-level desk assistant in 1987 and rose to become a producer for “World News Tonight.” After reporting for KGO-TV in San Francisco and the ABC News affiliate service NewsOne in Washington, D.C., she co-anchored the overnight show “World News Now.” Chang’s work has been recognized with numerous awards, including multiple Emmy’s, Gracie’s, a DuPont, a Murrow and Peabody awards. In 2017, she was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Front Page Awards.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, and raised in Northern California, Chang graduated with honors from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and communication. She is married to WNET president and CEO Neal Shapiro and, together, they have three sons. Chang is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a founding board member of the Korean American Community Foundation.

As vice chair of the Clinton Foundation, Chelsea Clinton works alongside the Foundation’s leadership and partners to improve lives and inspire emerging leaders across the United States and around the world. This includes the Foundation’s early child initiative Too Small to Fail, which supports families with the resources they need to promote early brain and language development; and the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), a global program that empowers student leaders to turn their ideas into action. Robin Cogan, MEd, RN, NCSN, FNASN, FAAN is a New Jersey school nurse in the Camden City School District. Robin is the Director from NJ for the National Association of School Nurses. She is on faculty at Rutgers University-Camden School of Nursing. Robin writes a popular blog called The Relentless School Nurse. Josh Cohen co-founded Amylyx Pharmaceuticals in 2013 and has served since that time as its Co-CEO and Co-Founder. Josh co-invented AMX0035 and has overseen the growth of Amylyx from its start as a concept dreamed up in a dorm room to its status now as a pre-commercial stage pharmaceutical company. Together with Justin, Josh has raised nearly $250M in financing to support the development of new therapies for ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases. Josh received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Brown University.

Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D., currently serves as the Special Advisor to President Biden for Special Projects. In this role, he is leading a bold program to help eliminate Hepatitis C in the United States. Dr. Collins also maintains his longstanding position as a Senior Investigator in the intramural program of the National Human Genome Research Institute, pursuing genomics research on type 2 diabetes and a rare disorder of premature aging called progeria.

Dr. Collins previously served as the 16th Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), appointed by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate in 2009. In 2017, President Donald Trump asked Dr. Collins to continue to serve as the NIH Director. President Joe Biden did the same in 2021. For those 12 years, serving an unprecedented three administrations, Dr. Collins oversaw the work of the largest supporter of biomedical research in the world, spanning the spectrum from basic to clinical research. Dr. Collins stepped down as Director on December 19, 2021.

Dr. Collins is a physician-geneticist noted for his landmark discoveries of disease genes and his previous leadership of the international Human Genome Project, which culminated in April 2003 with the completion of a finished sequence of the human DNA instruction book. He served as director of the National Human Genome Research Institute at NIH from 1993-2008.

Dr. Collins is an elected member of both the National Academy of Medicine and the National Academy of Sciences, was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in November 2007, and received the National Medal of Science in 2009. In 2020, he was elected as a Foreign Member of the Royal Society (UK) and was also named the 50th winner of the Templeton Prize, which celebrates scientific and spiritual curiosity.

Dr. Kizzmekia S. Corbett is an assistant professor of immunology and infectious diseases at Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Shutzer Assistant Professor at Harvard’s Radcliff Institute of Advanced Study, and Associate Member of the Phillip T. and Susan M. Ragon Institute. Dr. Corbett’s laboratory studies host immune responses to coronaviruses and other emerging and re-emerging viruses to propel novel vaccine and antibody therapy development. In 2008, she received a BS in Biological Sciences, with a secondary major in Sociology, from the University of Maryland – Baltimore County, where she was a Meyerhoff Scholar and NIH undergraduate scholar. She then obtained her PhD in Microbiology and Immunology in 2014 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill holding multiple honors, including a director’s scholarship. Prior to Harvard, she was a research fellow and scientific lead at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Vaccine Research Center. A leading COVID-19 vaccine, mRNA-1273, was co-designed by Dr. Corbett’s NIH team from viral sequence and rapidly deployed to industry partner, Moderna, Inc., for Phase 1 clinical trial, which unprecedently began only 66 days from viral sequence release. mRNA-1273 is a now used around the world to prevent COVID-19 disease. Alongside mRNA-1273, Dr. Corbett boasts a patent portfolio which also includes universal coronavirus and influenza vaccine concepts and novel therapeutic antibodies. In all, she has over 15 years of experience studying dengue virus, respiratory syncytial virus, influenza virus, and coronaviruses, garnering several prestigious awards and recognitions, such as being named a Time Magazine “Hero of the Year” in 2021. Combining her research goals with her knack for mentorship, Dr. Corbett invests much of her time in underserved communities as an advocator of STEM education and vaccine awareness.

Toby Cosgrove, MD, is former CEO and current Executive Advisor of Cleveland Clinic. He is Strategic Advisor to Care Centrix, Senior Advisor of Innova Health Partners, and is Member of the Board of Directors of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, American Well, Hims & Hers and View. He worked for Google Cloud and currently is an advisor for several healthcare organizations. As an expert on health issues, he is a frequent commentator in national and international media.
As CEO and President of Cleveland Clinic from 2004 through 2017, he led the $8 billion organization to new heights of achievement and efficiency, seeing it ranked the #2 hospital in America (U.S. News). In his role as Executive Advisor, he is working with Cleveland Clinic leadership on strategies for national and international growth.
Dr. Cosgrove graduated from Williams College and the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He trained at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brook General Hospital in London. In 1967, he was a surgeon in the U.S. Air Force, earning a Bronze Star.

Dr. Cosgrove joined Cleveland Clinic in 1975, and chaired the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular surgery from 1989 to 2004. He performed over 22,000 operations and earned an international reputation in valve repair. He holds 30 patents for medical innovations. As CEO from 2004 to 2017, he reorganized services, improved outcomes and patient experience, and strengthened the organization’s finances.

He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine, and a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors. In 2016, he was a Fortune Businessperson of the Year (No. 14). Three successive presidents of the United States have consulted him on healthcare issues.

Katie Couric (@katiecouric) is an award-winning journalist and #1 New York Times best-selling author of her memoir, Going There, which was published in October 2021. She is also a co-founder of Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) which has raised more than $700 million for cancer research.

Couric was the first woman to solo anchor a network evening newscast, serving as anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News from 2006 to 2011 following 15-years as co-anchor of NBC’s Today show.

Academy Award winner Geena Davis is one of Hollywood’s most respected actors, appearing in several roles that became cultural landmarks.

Davis received her first Academy Award, for Best Supporting Actress, for her role as the offbeat dog trainer Muriel Pritchett in Lawrence Kasdan’s The Accidental Tourist. She was again nominated for an Academy Award and Golden Globe for her performance in Ridley Scott’s Thelma & Louise, in which she co-starred with Susan Sarandon.

In 2019 Davis was honored with a second Oscar, this time the Academy’s Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, in recognition of the work Davis has done over the decades to achieve gender parity onscreen in film and television.

Earning the 2006 Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama, Davis broke ground in her portrayal of the first female President of the United States in ABC’s hit show Commander in Chief.

Davis made her feature film debut starring opposite Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie. She went on to star in such films as The Fly, Beetlejuice, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Stuart Little, and A League of Their Own.

Rick Doblin, Ph.D., is the founder and executive director of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). He received his doctorate in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, where he wrote his dissertation on the regulation of the medical uses of psychedelics and marijuana and his Master’s thesis on a survey of oncologists about smoked marijuana vs. the oral THC pill in nausea control for cancer patients. His undergraduate thesis at New College of Florida was a 25-year follow-up to the classic Good Friday Experiment, which evaluated the potential of psychedelic drugs to catalyze religious experiences. He also conducted a thirty-four year follow-up study to Timothy Leary’s Concord Prison Experiment. Rick studied with Dr. Stanislav Grof and was among the first to be certified as a Holotropic Breathwork practitioner. His professional goal is to help develop legal contexts for the beneficial uses of psychedelics and marijuana, primarily as prescription medicines but also for personal growth for otherwise healthy people, and eventually to become a legally licensed psychedelic therapist. He founded MAPS in 1986, and currently resides in Boston with his wife and puppy, with three empty rooms from his children whom have all graduated college and begun their life journeys.

Prior to joining Northwell in 1995, Mr. Dowling served in New York State government for 12 years. He held several leadership roles, including director of health, education and human services; commissioner of social services and deputy secretary and chief adviser to former Governor Mario Cuomo. Mr. Dowling was previously a professor of social policy and an assistant dean of Fordham’s Graduate School of Social Services

Victor J. Dzau is the President of the US National Academy of Medicine (NAM). In addition, he serves as Vice Chair of the US National Research Council. He is Chancellor Emeritus and James B. Duke Professor of Medicine at Duke University and the past President and CEO of the Duke University Health System.

Robert Green, MD, MPH is a board-certified medical geneticist and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School who directs the Genomes2People Research Program at Mass General Brigham, Ariadne Labs and the Broad Institute.

Dr. Green established the world’s first academically-affiliated, family-oriented Preventive Genomics Clinic in Boston and led policy development for returning genomic information to research participants within the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health, the Verily-Google Baseline Project and All of Us Research Program. In 2017, he co-founded the nationwide telegenetics company Genome Medical.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta is the multiple Emmy®-award winning chief medical correspondent for CNN and host of the CNN podcast Chasing Life. Gupta, a practicing neurosurgeon, plays an integral role in CNN's reporting on health and medical news for all of CNN's shows domestically and internationally, and regularly contributes to CNN.com.

In addition to his work for CNN, Gupta is an associate professor of neurosurgery at Emory University Hospital and associate chief of neurosurgery at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Dr. Susan Harvey is currently the Vice President of Global Medical Affairs at Hologic, a medical technology innovator focused primarily on women’s health. Dan Liljenquist is the Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for Intermountain Healthcare. As a member of the Intermountain Executive Leadership Team he is responsible for guiding the process of setting and achieving the organization’s strategic priorities, as well as overseeing Intermountain’s Strategy, Corporate Development, Government Relations, and Care Transformation and Information Systems teams. Dan is the lead author of Addressing Generic-Drug Market Failures – The Case for Establishing a Nonprofit Manufacturer, published in the New England Journal of Medicine in May 2018. Stephen P. MacMillan was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Stryker Corporation until February 2012. Mr. MacMillan joined Stryker in 2003 as President and Chief Operating Officer, was appointed CEO effective January 2005, and Chairman in January 2010.

During his 9 years at Stryker, revenues almost tripled from $2.8B to over $8.3B in 2011, and the company moved up over 200 spots on the Fortune 500 list while transforming the company’s quality, compliance, and manufacturing operations.

Mr. MacMillan began his career with Procter & Gamble in 1985 and later spent 11 years with Johnson & Johnson in both the U.S. and Europe and became President of the joint venture between Johnson & Johnson and Merck.

In 2000, he joined Pharmacia Corporation’s Executive Committee, reporting to CEO Fred Hassan, where he oversaw five global businesses with revenues exceeding $2 billion.

Mr. MacMillan has also served on the Board of Directors of Texas Instruments, Alere and Boston Scientific and served on the Institute of Medicine’s Healthcare Policy Roundtable. He was also one of the Fortune 500 CEOs appointed to the Department of Commerce’s Advanced Manufacturing Partnership to help the country rebound from the 08/09 downturn*. Mr. MacMillan currently serves on the Board AdvaMed (the medical device industry’s trade association).

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Davidson College and is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program. He is married and has four children.

Dr. Masiakos is a pediatric surgeon at MGH, Director of the pediatric trauma surgery service. As injury prevention advocate, he has aided in the development of dozens of state injury prevention laws. His role in injury prevention has extended into the community through outreach programs that have positively impacted child wellness to provides health care access to those in need. He has written multiple manuscripts on injury prevention including one in The New England Journal of Medicine titled “The Quiet Room” that served as a call to action for organized medicine to embrace gun violence as a public health crisis. Using his 30-year experience, Dr. Masiakos established the Mass. General Center for Gun Violence Prevention. His long-term goal is to decrease unintentional morbidity and mortality associated with firearm injuries.

The Honorable Denis Richard McDonough was nominated by President Biden to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs. Mr. McDonough’s nomination was confirmed by the United States Senate on February 8th, 2021, and he was sworn in the following day as the 11th Secretary of Veterans Affairs. On January 27, 2021, during his confirmation hearing, Secretary McDonough testified to Congress, “I will work tirelessly to build and restore VA's trust as the premier agency for ensuring thewell-being of America’s Veterans. After all, there is no more sacred obligation nor noble undertaking than to uphold our promises to our Veterans, whether they came home decades ago or days ago.” Secretary McDonough served in the Obama Administration as the 26th White House Chief of Staff from February 2013 to January 2017. In that role, Mr. McDonough managed the White House staff and worked across the cabinet to advance the Obama-Biden agenda, confronted management issues facing the federal government, and devised and enforced goals, plans, and performance standards to preserve the Obama-Biden Administration’s reputation for effective, ethical operations. Prior to his role as Chief of Staff, Mr. McDonough was Principal Deputy National Security Advisor from October 2010 to January 2013. He also served as the Chief of Staff of the National Security Staff and as the Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications. He chaired the National Security Council’s Deputies Committee, leading the multiagency team to address complex challenges including crisis management and national security policymaking. And throughout his service in the White House, Secretary McDonough helped lead the Obama-Biden administration’s work on behalf of military families and Veterans. Before his eight-year tenure in the White House, Secretary McDonough served in senior leadership and policymaking positions in the U.S. House of Representatives as a Professional Staff Member on the International Relations Committee and in the U.S. Senate for Majority Leader Tom Daschle and Senator Ken Salazar. He leads a $12.4 billion globally integrated healthcare system with a main campus, 22 hospitals, and 226 outpatient locations, including facilities in Florida, Nevada, Toronto, Abu Dhabi and London.

Valerie Montgomery Rice, MD, FACOG, provides a valuable combination of experience at the highest levels of patient care and medical research, as well as organizational management and public health policy. Marrying her transformational leadership acumen and strategic thinking to tackle challenging management issues, she has a track record of redesigning complex organizations’ infrastructures to reflect the needs of evolving strategic environments and position the organization for success through sustainability tactics.

The sixth president of Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) and the first woman to lead the freestanding medical institution, Montgomery Rice serves as the president and chief executive officer. A renowned infertility specialist and researcher, she most recently served as the institution’s president and dean from 2014 to 2021. She began her tenure at Morehouse School of Medicine in 2011, serving as the dean and executive vice president.

President Joe Biden appointed Dr. Montgomery Rice to The President’s Committee on the National Medal of Science in March 2022. Additionally, she is a proud member of the National Academy of Medicine and the Horatio Alger Association.

Montgomery Rice has received numerous accolades and honors. She was named to the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans and received the 2017 Horatio Alger Award. The American Jewish Committee Atlanta presented Montgomery Rice the National Human Relations Award in 2021. Dr. Jonathan Perlin is President and CEO of The Joint Commission, an international quality improvement and accrediting organization. Broadly published, an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, and international leader in quality, past roles include serving as president, clinical operations, HCA Healthcare and Under Secretary for Health and CEO of the Veterans Health Administration. He hold adjunct faculty appointments at Vanderbilt and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Stephen Quake is the Lee Otterson Professor of Bioengineering and Professor of Applied Physics at Stanford University, President of Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network, a non-profit medical research organization located in San Francisco, and also the Head of Science at Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. He received a B.S. in Physics and M.S. in Mathematics from Stanford University in 1991 and a doctorate in Theoretical Physics from the University of Oxford as a Marshall Scholar in 1994. He began his faculty career at the California Institute of Technology in 1996, where he rose through the ranks to become the Everhart Professor of Applied Physics and Physics. He joined Stanford in 2005 to help found and lead Stanford’s new Bioengineering department as it grew to nearly two dozen faculty members. He was an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute from 2006-2016.

Quake’s research has explored the nexus of biology, physics and technology development. His research in microfluidic device physics led to the invention of the biological integrated circuit – chips with tens of thousands of microfabricated valves and other assorted plumbing elements. Quake developed applications of these devices in areas in fields as diverse as structural biology, biochemistry, genetics and cell biology. Many of the technologies currently used for single cell genomics trace their origin to Quake’s discoveries in this field. Quake’s early career work in single molecule biophysics led him to the invention of the first single molecule sequencing technology, which he used for an early example of human genome sequencing. He then began exploring other applications of genomics, which led him into immune repertoire analysis, diagnostics and the development of non-invasive tests for fetal aneuploidy and organ transplant rejection.

Quake’s contributions to the development of new biotechnology at the interface between physics and biology have been widely recognized. Honors include the Prize for Convergence Research (National Academy of Science), The Max Delbruck Prize in Biological Physics (American Physical Society), the Gabbay Prize for Biotechnology and Medicine, the Human Frontiers of Science Program Nakasone Prize, the MIT-Lemelson Prize for Inventors, the Raymond and Beverly Sackler International Prize in Biophysics, the American Society of Microbiology’s Promega Biotechnology Award, and the Royal Society of Chemistry Publishing’s Pioneer of Miniaturization Award. He has published more than 300 peer reviewed papers which have cumulatively been cited more than 100,000 times, and his h-index is 155. He is one of the most prolific inventors in the world and is named inventor on 179 US patents, as well as many more international patents.

As the Co-Founder and CEO of Manna Tree, Ellie is a passionate investor focused on improving human health. Manna Tree invests in growth stage businesses transforming the food supply chain for healthier outcomes. Ellie is a member of the firm’s Executive and Investment Committees. Dr. Jennifer Schneider is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Homeward, a company focused on rearchitecting the delivery of health and care in partnership with communities everywhere, starting in rural America. Having grown up in a small town, and being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at a young age, she experienced first-hand the challenges of accessing convenient care that millions of families across rural America deal with everyday. This fueled her passion to found Homeward and create novel, value-based care models that are purpose built to address the needs of rural Americans.

Previously, Dr. Schneider served as the chief medical officer and president of Livongo. While there, she led the company through the largest consumer digital health Initial Public Offering in history and the industry’s largest merger ever between Livongo and Teladoc Health, valuing Livongo at $18.5 billion. She also served as chief medical officer of Castlight Health.

Dr. Schneider has been honored by Modern Healthcare as one of the “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare” and by Fierce Healthcare as a “Woman of Influence” for her work empowering women and modeling diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Alyson Shontell joined Fortune in October 2021 as Editor-in-Chief and Chief Content Officer. Prior to Global Ventures, Noor was the first woman to operate, scale and IPO a company in the MENA region, listing Depa on NASDAQ Dubai and the London Stock Exchange for US$1.1 billion in April 2008. One of the world’s largest interior contractors, Noor scaled Depa tenfold, expanding operations from six countries to 22, including four cross-border acquisitions.

Identified by Forbes as one of the “World’s Top 50 Women in Tech” and by Arabian Business as one of the “Most Influential Arabs”, Noor's previous roles include Chief Investment Officer at The Dubai Future Foundation and a Founding Partner at Leap Ventures. Doris Taylor is a dynamic innovator, scientist, entrepreneur, and a global thought leader in regenerative medicine and biomanufacturing. Rachel Yehuda, PhD, is an Endowed Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience of Trauma. She is also Director of Mental Health at the James J. Peters Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Yehuda is a recognized leader in the field of traumatic stress studies, PTSD, and intergenerational trauma. In 2019, Dr. Yehuda was elected to the National Academy of Medicine for her seminal contributions to understanding the psychological and biological impact of traumatic stress. Anna Stromer is a violist based in New England. Nathaniel Taylor, an Filipino/African-American/Cherokee cellist, is establishing himself as a passionate and charismatic performer with a variety of Classical, Jazz, Pop, and RnB engagements. In October 2020, Nathaniel collaborated with cellist Yo-Yo Ma on the IDAGIO network, performing a duet of the spiritual “Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen”. In December 2021, he joined the roster of Palaver Strings, a conductor-less string ensemble based in Portland, Maine. Nathaniel is also the current guest cellist for Sons of Serendip, a classical crossover quartet that won 4th prize at America's Got Talent. Nathaniel is an advocate for diversity and representation, and frequently works with/mentors the next generation to reach their potential. Nathaniel received an Artist Diploma from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where he studied with Rhonda Rider and Patrice Jackson.

Claudius Agrippa is a 22 year old award winning violinist and composer from Brooklyn, New York. Starting off in a classical studio at Juilliard, Claudius ended up studying jazz and modern music at Berklee College of Music. He has performed and toured with musicians such as Peter Yarrow, Sammy Rae and Roger Waters. Claudius was also the recipient of the debut prize for the New York Concerti Sinfonietta. As an avid improviser, arranger and collaborator, Claudius continues to break the mold of what it means to be a professional violinist.

Known for her vibrant performance style and engaging musicality, Gioia Gedicks is a classically trained violinist with a myriad of experiences and interests, encompassing multiple genres and ensembles. Recent awards include first prize in the Lynn Conservatory Chamber Competition as first violinist of the Kourdisma string quartet, second prize in the Mary Hilem Taylor Music Scholarship Competition in association with Palm Beach Symphony, 2022 scholarship recipient from the National Society of Arts and Letters, and the Lynn Conservatory Concerto Competition. Gedicks has performed alongside the genre-defying band Time for Three, was a fellow of the Adirondack Performing Arts Fellowship, and has performed and coached as an Artist in Residence for pianoSonoma directed by Michael and Jessica Shinn. Additionally, she is a featured soloist on a Cannes International Film Festival Official Selection. Gedicks received her Bachelor of Music from Boston Conservatory at Berklee studying with Katie Lansdale, and is currently pursuing her Master of Music degree at Lynn Conservatory with Guillermo Figueroa.
